This analysis does not require that all assertions are verifiable, but when a train of thought leads to an unverifiable assertion, we must be sure to know that assertion as unverifiable, and to understand our reasons for electing to make an unverifiable assertion. To attempt to draw a complete picture of the Universe from within it is impossible. We must approach religion as the Flatlander approaches geometry. One cannot know a system entirely from within that system.
