I find your unhealthy ways to fight insomnia fascinating.  ;D

I've been thinking about your ice bath suggestion--all afternoon-- :felix:
...If a witch won't burn or drown...
...Are you just trying to find out if I, I mean, a witch would freeze?  :???:

Essentially it is making your body focus on trying to do one thing (similar to how the exercise for sleep works). You eat a very large meal that is very high in protein and saturated fats which are hard to digest and a moderate amount of carbohydrates. This will help contribute to heart disease, certain types of cancers, diabetes, strokes and other things so I wouldn't touch it however you do this approaching bed time you body goes into postprandial somnolence and down you drop.

I don't think it would be enough to freeze a witch it is way off 0c. You could do a warm bath as well but cold is far more efficient and if you are doing exercise it will help with repair and inflammation. Add a small artificial dose of melatonin and you should be gone like Flynn even with a warm bath.

I can't sleep after eating a huge meal. I have to stop eating by a few hours before I go to bed. Eating was something I did to keep myself awake when I got less than four hours of sleep in two days.

What sort of forum is it that has its members under such control that they can only say things which are in agreement with those who run it? It doesn't sound too healthy to me.  Do you get a lot of support from it in other ways Velma?
It's not that you have to agree with those who run it, you just can't judge the treatment choices others have made. I can understand that. RA is an terrible illness and the medications can have some awful side effects. However, when you have people forsaking proven medical treatments for quack remedies, it is difficult not to point that out. The forum staff is great about keeping those who promote and sell such treatments off the forum, but if someone decides to go that route you aren't supposed to criticize since it is their decision to make.

I do get support from it. Most people think RA is just a slightly worse form of the osteoarthritis (wear-and-tear arthritis) that most people get as they age. It helps to talk to others who understand and also struggle, not just with the pain, but with the fatigue, the brain fog, the affects on other systems in your body, the drug side effects, etc... I suppose putting up with those who choose woo over sound medicine are part of price of admission.

Yes,I can understand that as my mum was a a lifelong sufferer.  I count myself very lucky in the life I lead and I can well understand people wanting to try anything in their frustration that doctors are limited in the help thay can offer. I'm glad you get support from the site, because you're right, other people don't really have an accurate concept of the condition.
When people ask where they can go for more information, I do try to direct them to reliable sources. No source of information is perfect, but you can be fairly certain that the Arthritis Foundation or Mayo Clinic websites are going to have better info than Natural News or Dr. Oz.

I am grumpy because some jackass hacked my AOL E Mail function. He/she/it used every address that I have written to within the last five years.  I am getting WTF letters from a lot of my contacts. If any of you get a letter from RSTinstruments@AOL.com ignore it . I do not know the content of the phony messages, likely some sort of scam.  >:(

I'm sorry to hear that. Let us know when you resolve it so I can make fun of you for still having an AOL account  ;D In all seriousness, I'd probably dump it for real now that you posted it online, as there are bots that scoop up every email address they can find online to spam them.

And insomnia...yup,had it again last night. It's still much better than it used to be once I discovered Unisom, but last night I was up until 4 am. Probably a combination of stress and getting home really late from seeing Batman vs Superman (which was definitely not worth it).
This was the stupid trigger of stress: I have some former high school friends who I pushed away a while ago for good reasons, and one guy's wife tagged me in a pic of us from high school on Facebook. I'm not Facebook friends with either of them, she tried to add me once and I ignored it. Supposed to be one of those looking back fondly moments, but it triggered bad memories and anger that this person's wife, who I barely know, is seemingly reaching out on his behalf. Every so often there are attempts made to reach out to me, and while I wouldn't mind seeing one or two of them, this felt pushy and fake. So I removed the tag and then my mind raced all night. Feels lame to think this still affects me considering all the awesome things that have happened in my life since.

Heheh, only the best. Abstinence.  :P

I used to share a family computer and some of my family members were into those sites. Every now and then a pornographic pic would pop up (no Adblock back then). We were frequently embarrassed whenever we had friends or classmates over.  :twitch:
