Experiments on birds, flycatchers, seems to indicate it is.

Swapping eggs between two species of flycatcher, with different songs, did not stop the chicks reacting more strongly to the song of their own species rather than that of the "adopting" species. The swap was done early, before the embryo's brain had formed, to eliminate the chance of "learning by hearing".

It has been implied that this nay have implications for humans...
