That happens to me all the time.

Spend all day working on a project, know the ins and outs of everything, know how everything inside it works. Right up until the time someone asks me about it.

I never know how to start explaining things, it can be difficult. Especially when required to write on actual paper. Using Word or a similar software you can go back and edit what you've written, but if you try and do that on an exam sheet it can really piss the examiner off.

Yahoo!  And I think you're pretty much getting those presentation things knocked by now.

I am especially pleased that I finished it with a few days to spare. This is not like me!

Who knew this journey would be so mentally exhausting? I've had a couple of set backs that kept me up at night, anxious and worried. The clock keeps ticking and it's never been so difficult to ignore!

You will look back on it with amused nostalgia one day, Fernanda.

I think you're right, Dave.

I've been gathering all the documentation supporting my curriculum for the second stage of the selection process. Extracurricular activities and intellectual production are worth points, and I want every single decimal point I can get! Good thing I have gathered throughout the years a small heap of certificates and such. Hopefully the Commission will consider most of them.

On the downside, the research project I'm supposed to turn in is not finished. My advisor has set up a meeting with a psychiatrist/researcher who will be my co-advisor, if she accepts, tomorrow morning to discuss a few of the project details. Why does this keep me up at night? The application deadline is this Wednesday.  :sshocked:

I'm sure they take everything into consideration, and it sounds like you're already 'way ahead of the game.' Try to not worry so much, it's not good for you.

I wish I knew if I was indeed way ahead of the game, but I don't know what my competition the other candidates have turned in. I will try to believe that is the case though!

So at the meeting with my co-advisor yesterday (she accepted) the topic of anxiety was brought up. They work with anxious patients there. She said that anxious people tend to have an exaggerated negative perception of events, in which things are perceived by the anxious individual to be worse than they actually are. While I don't consider myself to be 'chronically anxious' when she said that I noticed that it's what I've been doing a lot this past month or so. It all seems so obvious now.

You're right that too much worrying isn't a good thing, especially when it gets in the way of actually preparing oneself.

So I stayed up till around 2 a.m. adding some finishing touches to my research project, my advisor was kind enough to go through a bout of insomnia (though I think he's an insomniac regardless) to help me with it. I handed my documentation, CV, project and loads of other things in this morning.

One step closer to my goal has been taken. I feel like a huge weight has temporarily been taken off my shoulders.
