Season 1 of In the Dark was really good. Here's the description from the website:
For 27 years, the investigation into the abduction of Jacob Wetterling in rural Minnesota yielded no answers. Reporter Madeleine Baran reveals how law enforcement mishandled one of the most notorious child abductions in the country and how those failures fueled national anxiety about stranger danger, led to the nation's sex-offender registries and raise questions about crime-solving effectiveness and accountability.

That sounds interesting, I'm going to check that out.

Ever heard of Star Talk Radio? It's a series of podcasts hosted by Neil DeGrasse Tyson. I get the feeling that you and others here would enjoy them.

I like to listen to clips on YouTube but I don't have money for the full thing.
But, uh...well there it is.

Listen to it occasionally. One of my friends actually did a guest blog post for them.

Not podcasts - BBC iPlayer

Bettany Hughes series' "The ideas that made us" on BBC Radio 4

15 minutes talks on concepts like technology, hubris, nemesis and others over the various series.

Links to other, similar, things.

BBC iPlayer again.

Neil MacGregor, once Director of the British Museum and writer/presenter of "100 Things That Changed the World" (akso recommended), has a new series, "Living With the Gods", a story of mankind's mythical mind.

The first one is about The Lion Man, found in a Gernan cave, a superb mamoth ivory statuette of a man with the head of a lion - something that never existed in reality but which, 35 - 40 000 years ago a person was willing to spend up to 400 hours carving, with only stones as tools. Why?

These are short progs ideal for those odd idle moments.

BBC Radio 4 prog and podcasts.

"The Digital Human". All aspects of things digital and how they affect us and society, and stretching the "digital" bit sometimes.

Good thread, with so many interesting podcasts! I must get around to listening to all of them sometime.

BBC comedy, "Andy Hamilton sort of remembers", one of the funniest men on British TV  and radio.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b098jtq1

Latest one involved how to scare off a grizzly, his wife being chased by a randy dolphin and why the attitude difference between alligators and crocodiles is important if all you have is a rolled up newspaper.

I liked it, it's about a long term study of lizard behaviour.
Could be some anthropomorphism going on, confusion interpreted as grief?
Maybe our grief on loss of a life partner is 52.37% confusion
Maybe so italics me.
I saw a pair of similar lizards basking out in the afternoon sun, they do look sweet together.
Different colours made of tears
These days I mostly I post when I’m pissed ([Brit, vulgar] Very drunk) so I’m liable to say shit.

These progs take unusual approaches to viewing humans and technology.
