I recently posted an message to my college forum in search of a roommate. With every possible OUNCE of irony, I receive the following reply:
"Hey, I didnt know if you still needed a roommate. I am a first year Chem. major. I am a very avid believer in Jesus Christ and need a roommate for next year. I am very neat and tidy. I do not have a girlfriend, so there will be no sexiling on my part. I have a very rigorous schedule because of my major. If you still need a roommate, let me know asap. Thanks and God Bless!"
"Hey, This is too funny... While many people, including your friend Tyler, would attest that I am a very pleasant and moral person, I am in fact an avid atheist. As a former theist, with a very interesting story of how I lost my faith, Tyler actually asked me to write an article on atheism for Doulos, the campus' Christian journal. Basically, if you intend to keep your faith, it's probably in your best interest that we don't room together! :-P "
"Hahaha, well religion is no problem for me. I have an avid Jewish roommate at the moment and we get along fine. I don't believe there is any way I will ever "lose" my faith. I am very firmly grounded in what I believe and after being in the Honors College and surviving their ridiculing of my God and faith, I think I could survive just about anything. In fact, I am stronger than I was because of it. Lol, I actually did write an article for Douos for next semester. I am sad to hear of your detour from the Lord and I will be praying for you. Take care my friend and I wish you all the best in your future! God Bless!"
I figure it's best to leave it alone, but I so badly want to respond with something to the tune of, "Oh, I don't ridicule... I use swift, deadly logic. As a chem major, I suspect the day will come, as it did for me, when you will not be able to reconcile your faith with your understanding of reality as revealed by science."
On top of it all, the following items were found on his Facebook:
****A picture of him with SARAH PALIN...

If that's not the Creationist creed, I don't know what is!

This is exactly the point in the message that I would've stopped reading and decided I didn't need this guy as a roommate.

On the contrary, tell him that you'd love to have him as a roommate if he's willing. We could use another forum member.
