I'm sure that there will be some dissatisfaction with how this poll is laid out. A 36 year old may not like the idea of being lumped in with 40 year olds, for instance. Suggestions for improving it will be considered. I'm not telling whether I voted already or not . ;)
I'm in the 30-35 demographic. Mid-1985 model.
Late '59 here.
Waiting eagerly to see if anyone clicks the "over 100 yrs" button.
I just noticed one problem with the poll, there are two options for 30 (and 20, 40, 50...). :P I would have liked to have chosen the 30 grouped with the late twenties but now I'm officially in my thirties, so...
Likewise, there are two options for every mid decade.
Maybe edit it so that it's
10-14
15-19
20-24

I thought the ambiguity was a feature, not a bug. :)
I'm willing to change it if people want the ambiguity removed.
No one 30, or younger, yet?
Khool thread. I predict that our ages are distributed all over the lot. So much the better. To hell with generation gaps. We are all in this world together.

Looks like a new age quantum phenomenon, you can be both options at the same time.
I'm just being nitpicky, I've had my quota of dilemmas for the day. ;)
I think the only young people we have here are Buddy and Apathy. We had MLA, but, well...You know. :-\
It would seem that I am the only one who chose the 15-20. Sigh, so old now.

Wow, I'm the second youngest person here, apparently! Guess people here won't much care for me calling myself 'old', then. lol
Fitting into the 20-25 range, at the ripe, old age of 21. You know, the age where I can legally drink that stuff I've been drinking for years anyway.

It said my mental age is 23. That's 14 years younger than I am.
But how am I supposed to answer questions like the ice cream question, sometimes I want one, sometimes another. Sometimes I want one of each.
I think other people would consider my mental age to be more like 70 though.

Where are the 75-85 year-olds? We are failing this age group, and need to devise strategies to bring more of them in. They are on the verge of nursinghomehood - they need a diversion. What is being done for them? Have we no compassion?

Ye well, Old Git died again but we re resurrected him again using bits we bought on the internet.
Best estimate is he's nineteen equivalent.

Yes :D
I was thinking; I started posting here back in 2010, when I was 24 years old. Eight years later I'm still here. So far I've been a member of HAF for a quarter of my life.
(Did I get that calculation right? :notsure:)

Sounds like you're right on the dot!
I joined back when I was 23. The calculations I did was about a fifth of my life, but I'm not particularly good at math. And I'm too busy wondering where all of those years went...
^ Yes, you did get the arithmetic right. Keep up the good work.
Let's see... I was almost 16 at the time I joined and I am 22 now and it is way to early in the morning for math.

Well you have spent 100% of your adult life on HAF by UK terms (18) and US terms (21) !!!

Better think of it as, "Just over a quarter . . ." then you have almost 3/4 to go and not just over 2/3rds!
By Daves numerical estimates you will live until 80 and two thirds years. You may very well beat his estimates, so hang in there Buddy. Enjoy life as best you can and be thankful for your good fortune.
Where is the original census so we can compare them ? History should not have been removed, should it ? Maybe I have just failed to find the original ???

My bad. I should have taken a screen shot before resetting the pole. :-[
Why didn't you leave the old one alone and have a new one called Census 2018 ?. Maybe some one would have rememberd the year of the 1st one and then you are creating an intereasting record. I don't think it is usual to just destroy a census. Oh well, never mind, I suppose.
P.S. How many members are there ?

The reason I did it was to get some engagement from the membership. If engagement continues to fall like it is then the forum will have to shut up shop in a couple of years and the demographic of the membership will be meaningless.

Can we push the forum on Facebook (if you are not already doing so)? Or do we have to let the rules slip so the less desirables (currently) are attracted? They are a demographic as well!
Reset votes so we can do this again :)
Bunch of old farts on this forum.

It's interesting that from 51 to 75 years old we get what looks like a normal distribution!

We're putting more rock down to cover our parkway. The neighbor came over and offered up about 4 wheelbarrows' worth of rocks and flagstone. I got two of them across the street, but I'm waiting for one of my sons to get home from work to move the rest. She wants them gone, and doesn't want any money. I'll do something nice, though. It's about $200 worth of rocks. I'm getting too old (68) for that sort of heavy lifting. I used to be able to do it all day long. I'm sitting here with a back brace on waiting for the naproxen to kick in so I can go get a shower.

In the end!? I'm not going to go into the state of my hemorrhoids, except to say that
they got me in the end, too. :-[

I'll weigh in and say that, yes a lot of people watch sitcoms. Not sure what is "normal" with that, but I quit watching that shit decades ago. I got married in '81, and my bride had to ask her parents for an old B&W TV that they had in their attic, because I wouldn't buy a new TV. We weren't "poor" even though I was the only wage earner at the time. TV programming is shit, as far as I am concerned, and has been so for 50 years, by my estimate. There is, of course, good programming, but from the shit I see, most of it is not. I believe that there was a documentary called "The Stupefaction of America" that described the problem. Maybe it was a written document, idunno, and can't be bothered to go look...TV is mostly shit.

Another thing is that I am getting poorer circulation in my legs. There is some freckling from stuff that doesn't make it back up my legs. The doctor told me to put my feet up during the day. I forgot to ask how often and what duration. I don't have the time to sit with my feet up, I have shit to do!

Don't be such a wuss! I use hair spray to keep what little hair I have left in line. You'd wear flight socks and pantyhose just does the same job. Don't be a clot or you'll get a clot. :)
Tank, I have it on good authority that those safety fishnet stockings you wear in your workshop are quite becoming.

You can lick my stilettos if you like.
cease thiz untoward levity
panyhose are well known tools to keep your leg circulation going. the arteries and gravity force the blood down there and the pantyhose comprezz the veins enough that their elazticity is restricted and normal skeletal movement pumps blood back up rather than just inflating the vein.
if you all can be nice ill model some of my own for you. i dont shave my legs tho
.aybe ill show my wardrobe of lace up victorian corsets in XXL
Both my mother and sister have a rather serious case of varicose veins but refuse to wear a pantyhose despite the doctor's recommendation. ::) My sister has had that problem since she hit puberty and both have undergone a number of operations to improve blood circulation in their legs. Why not just wear the pantyhose? Is it really that uncomfortable?
Joe Namath wore pantyhose in cold games. To my knowledge, he doesn't have varicose veins. Can't argue with Broadway Joe.

 I made a comment at another forum about buying an old truck. I said that I could sell a few of my wife's sewing machines to pay for it. She has 6 or 7, I'm not sure. One guy showed that comment to his wife and she said, deadpan, he'd better not ever try that. I said that I'm not afraid of his wife. I can run my mouth all I want, because I'm California and she's in Iowa.
