For funsies, post a screenshot of your Desktop (you know, unless you use your credit card number to label one of your files).
Let's see all yer weird backgrounds and programs and whatnot.

No. They're stuck on the wall for all to see.
You know, having to upload it to another website first is kinda annoying.

I don't like desk top short cuts.
I have three clocks for different time zones but they are only visible when mouse overed.
Transparent windows look crappy, usually.
The window colour should be compatible with the wallpaper.
The wallpaper is a cropped version of a big very high res pic.
I don't allow the new default Windows 7 quick launch behaviour.
Start menu must be kept in order.
Another menu over near the notification area is useful.
%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,R:\ A short cut like that will get you an explorer window opening in this case at R:\
I shun the convoluted user folders Windows creates, I'll curtail my curmudgeonliness for now.
I'd do this if I had the slightest idea how -- little help?

Press "PrntScrn" if you're on a PC.
Open a handy image program such as Paint or Photoshop.
Press "Ctrl + V"
Voila!

If you're not on a Mac, then you're on a PC. Check the upper right hand of your keyboard to start with.
If you're on a mac its shift+cmd+3 (or shift+cmd+4 if you want to take a screenshot of a selected area) and the image will appear on the desktop.
Finally!

UK
Being Human. I tried the US
Being Human, but didn't care for it. Most people said it just wasn't the same, but for me the problem was that it was too much the same as the original, only less well done.

A friend and I won a pirate quiz on Venganza. The prize was a pirate sketch by Black Bart, who is a mod. over there. My friend chose a cartoon of Errol Flyn in a famous film scene. I chose one of another Pastafarian's Bull Terrier, so Bart brilliantly did this pastiche of both. It's been on my desktop ever since.

Somebody must have complained about it as porn. You can contact IS and they will re-instate it for you if it's not nudity.
This (http://www.neosurrealismart.com/modern-art-prints/?artworks/ghost-ship-series-full-moon-rising.html) desktop background. They rotate within the same series on my more powerful laptop and the desktop has a totally different, hi-tech theme.
I don't mean to be pedantic, no I do, warning I'm going to be pedantic.
PNG isn't a very efficient image format for doing a screen capture, the file size ends up maybe ten times what a jpg would be.
It's useful if you want transparency as with my avatar. It is lossless but that's not really required for this thread.
Shot them an email asking what gives. Maybe someone will wake up.

It's a photo I took in 2007 from a boat returning home after the BEST days scuba diving ever - Poor Knights Islands in New Zealand. Yes, mine is more cluttered than yours. I have syllabus's, files, pictures, folders, and even multiple icons for some programs. I even have a The Sims 3 sunrise/sunset mod that has to be taken out and put back in when I want to use it that way, and I guess I decided the desktop was the easiest place to put that when I didn't want to use it!

More than mine?
Yes, mine is more cluttered than yours. I have syllabus's, files, pictures, folders, and even multiple icons for some programs. Looks like a dream.
That's a painting by, Vladimir Kush.
I found him when

Where is this place?
Oregon, just outside of Portland: Punch Bowl Falls, Eagle Creek Trail.
...It is a pretty cool place. Got to thinking about other cool places and subsequently changed my background image to Fern Canyon, Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park. ;D
This is my current background at work.

There goes the Golden Gate, shrouded in mist again. Mark Twain must have hung out near the Presidio/Pacific Heights... He might have had a different experience in The Mission.

Oregon, California, Washington State...The Pacific Coast...Beautiful.
My new desktop wallpaper. A screenshot it boring, check out the video!
This is after Firefox crashed and burned. I'll eventually get that icon off the desktop as well. :snicker1:

I'd like to be able to hide the trash can, too! Having the screen black is a little way to reduce my carbon footprint, instead of lighting it up. ::)

Heh, my wife's desktop pretty much has a link to every document she has on her computer. It's a complete mess. I like it minimal, and just rely on memory for looking through the menu. The buttons on the bottom in the tray just happen to be stuff I was currently using. Back when I worked as a systems engineer and programmer using FORTRAN, I made up acronyms as shortcuts that I made aliases for in my login.com file (AKA "tokens" in DOS). I could type in 3.4RXXX and get right to the directory that I was using. The XXX held other information that isn't pertinent here. I had a login.com file that was pages long, and could remember all of the aliases. In fact, the 3.4XXX was typed from memory just now, though the XXX part is beyond the scope of this posting, as there were several variables in those letters.

There is a chap at work who has a 27" screen. He uses small icons yet his screen is almost covered in a couple of hundred file links!

:snicker1: Mine was too, before I organised it all and moved it to my Documents folder. Having all that stuff in the Desktop area seems slow the computer, especially when initializing.

Yes, I believe so. How would that be, though? Zeros that are
also ones or are ditching the zero and ones altogether? :notsure:

I changed my wallpaper again. This time it's an image of a snow leopard with an added snow and fog effect (that I added).
I'm changing wallpaper as often as I change clothes. :P
I think I'll keep this one for a while. 8)
Silver, you aint' got no damned snow leopards in Brazil. For shame. You do have some bad ass felines that might be more appropriate for your geographic position.

I suppose I could add rain particles to a wallpaper pic of a jaguar or something. :notsure: Maybe my next project.

Yes. It keeps the site database down in size and prevents it from being used for abusive data file transfers.
True story. One of my sons frequented a website (I don't know which) where someone asked for screen shots. One of the members posted their screenshot, and one of the folders was labeled "Shemale Vids". Now, I don't care about people's sexual preferences, but that person never posted again at that site. I was half tempted to make a desktop with all kinds of kinky folder titles and post it just for kicks, but didn't get around to it. :P

I've got my desktop to slide show pics I've taken and not to show icons, they're messy and inefficient.
Oh ye, I still use an XP (or earlier?) style quick launch menu and shun stuff like grouping icons, peek, and search thingo.
