http://www.secularhumanism.org/index.php?section=fi&page=index - SecularHumanism.org runs the magazine "Free Inquiry", and on their page right now they have a link (warning: PDF!) that's calling for any American who's come out as an atheist to submit their story. PDF link here: http://faculty.tc.columbia.edu/upload/meb2222/CALLFORSUBMISSIONS-AtheistsinAmerica.pdf

Thought it might be a neat opportunity for anyone in the USA who'd like to submit something. Submission deadline is June 1rst, 2012.

Also, just to add, if anyone's looking for a job right now, the Center for Inquiry (linked off the Secular Humanism page) is currently looking for a web developer: http://www.centerforinquiry.net/about/employment

Thanks for the info! I may consider writing something.

I'm a secular humanist and I love Free Inquiry and keep meaning to subscribe.

I have also been interested in quite sometime in starting a secular humanist chapter in my area and  www.secularhumanism.org is involved in organizing and planning such groups, so I'll have to check it out some more.

Thanks for the link, I will look more into it. I didn't see anything about compensation for those whose stories are accepted though. I'm going to have to find out where the profits are going before doing work for another's profits. If the proceeds are donated, I'm game. If the professor slaps her name on the book and pockets all the money, I'm out.
