Getting called in the middle of the night to support some technical issues. I had to call other people. I don't like calling and waking up other people, I'd rather be able to fix it myself but it's in an application that I have almost no knowledge of that has some very complicated business rules. Not sure how I'll be able to sleep after it gets fixed, but for now I'm just sitting here waiting for someone else to fix the problem.

At least I'll be able to leave work a few hours earlier than normal.

QWERTY, AZERTY, or DVORAK?

Standard QWERTY since that is what most people use in the States. I don't know what the other forms are for, or where they are used.

If there actually a keyboard with DVORAK across the top row? Or is it just named after the composer?

Later: OK, found it, another go at getting rid of the old mechanical typewriter heritage!

There are, but you can also convert a regular keyboard to DVORAK by moving the keys. There is a DVORAK keyboard setting in most OSs.

According to the article, I've been pronouncing it incorrectly. I have always pronounced it like the composer's name. I guess that is programmed into my brain.

I looked on YouTube for a song that could work to teach the QWERTY alphabet and came across VegeTales. Their computer is named QWERTY and they sing something about the bible.

I didn't find a suitable replacement.

A QWERTY alphabet would be interesting as it's the most common (I assume) but then what would it be called? Certainly not alphabet (alpha - a, beta - b). There is no W in the Latin alphabet... :notsure:

These are important questions, I'm sure.

But then it wouldn't be nearly as fancy. :P

:sadshake: It wouldn't work in Portuguese because there is no W. Calling the new alphabet QWERTY would result in linguistic purists having a fit.

(Not that they can keep the language from "importing" new words.)

:P I like the alphabet with the added letters. How else would I say :wtf: without it?  :cracked:
