So what does hot petrol with lemon and honey taste like?

Petrol?

Well, JJ suggested

I think you've mistook me.
I was suggesting "hot petrol with lemon and honey" would taste like petrol.
Take my advice, don't listen to me.

Ah! You think the honey and lemon would be too subtle to mofify the flavour?

Hmm, pub measure if oettol plus a tablespoon of honey and half a lemon . . .

Please excuse my long absence - I've just had a coronary bypass operation.  I expect I'll feel more like posting soon.
Hot whisky and lemon cures almost everything, but the buggers won't give you any in hospital.  I had a couple of blood transfusions, but do you thing they'd put any in the bag?
Maybe we could smuggle a wee dram in for you. Anyone knows that hot whiskey and lemon is especially good post-bypass op. Delighted that you are progressing after such a huge op. Long may it continue.

Thanks, E_M, but I'm home now and self-medicating.  Thanks to all for the good wishes.

I seem to have started snoring again, enough to wake myself up! And maybe also my downstairs neighbour two nights ago, I think he thumped on the ceiling.

Last time this happened was about 21 years ago, before my heart attack.

One painful week later my throat is still sore so I went to the doctor yesterday, who prescribed antibiotics, not the hot whiskey and lemon I was hoping for!  :sulk:

Do you think you're suffering is caused by bacteria?
Bacteria, virus, I don't know how the stethoscopians tell the difference.

I heard placebo has positive effects even if you know it's placebo...
Take my advice, don't listen to me.

Usually the colour of the snot and coughed up gunge I underdtand! White for viral, if yellow or green get the anti-bios! I have been given snti-bios if a cold kasted too long, just in case opportunist bacteria got into the act.

Thanks for that.
White means viral, that's all I have to remember.
I can extrapolate the green and yellow.

On what do you base that?

QuoteDave on the internet SAID!

Rather extrapolated from my doctor asking me and not prescribing anti-bios for the white stuff, only the technicolour!

But, seems it is more complex than that, isn't it always?

That's just stethoscopian propaganda.
White=virus guess the rest.

Things are going AWOL around here. It's a tiny place and there are only so many places things can hide, but a mug went seriously missing yesterday.

Today it was the turn of my new lens case. It has lived on the floor for the past five days, since it arrived, from falling off the back of the foot rest. It was perfectly happy there, saw it every day. But, today, some sort of evil influence (not a piece of decaying food under the couch I hasten to add) provoked me into tidying up the pile of paper work and books that formed the lens case's nest.

Now there is no sign at all of said lens case, such is the result of trying to be domesticated, once tidied, always lost . . .

Later: found it! It was hiding in the back of the cupboard where the rest of the camera gear lives! Mug is still on the missing list though.
