It is the 20th Anniversary of my heart attack. With the damaged done then I am very lucky to still be ticking!

The doctor who saved my life on that day is still working at the same hospital. I was not expected to survive the journey from Gloucester to Oxford but I was delivered into his tender care for the installation of two stents. My original consultant at this end is still doing good work as well, both have advanced to become notable in their profession.

So, I posted a card off to Oxford, thanking the doctor and his team of that time. Another, more general, went to my local hospital thanking all the doctors, nurses, technicians, radiologists and all other department members, including secretaries and receptionists who have looked after me, even during those years when a certain medication was causing more problems than it cured - making me something of a p-i-t-a!

Can't say that I have stuck rigidly to the rules, especially regarding food, drink and excercise but must have done enough  :heyhey: Mainly with voluntary work I have tried to make those given years useful - long may I continue to do so.

Way to go Dave. You must be a tough old dude.

I think it a matter of good conscience, and a touch of class, to have sent thank you cards.

Kudos! Hope there's many more anniversaries ahead!

Really cool, Dave! I'm glad you're still ticking! I also think its really great that you sent cards, its a worthy Hallmark occasion. I always love it when Doctors, nurses and emergency people get thanked and acknowledged instead of thanking "God" and ignoring the medical saviors.

Good for you, Dave!  A nice gesture.  When they finally let me out after my heart attack I took in a big box of biscuits for the nurses,

Good for you, Dave!  A nice gesture.  When they finally let me out after my heart attack I took in a big box of biscuits for the nurses,

I always take the nurses a big bunch of grapes on any visit to the wards, used to be mint imperials and boiled fruit flavoured sweets. After I did a little job for one department they gave me a thankyou at xmas, a huge tin of chocs. After a bit of joking I got the confession, they get so many chocs and biscuits etc all year they have to give them away or end up like barrels.

So, from then on it was grapes, sweet but healthier, bit like a quick drink for a rushed nurse, can be grabbed and gobbled in passing. Even the doctors were pinching them.

Keep the chocs for romance...
