Title: Favourite Songs From The Past
Post by: xSilverPhinx on September 02, 2018, 04:05:05 PM
We all have those songs were used to listen to but have since been stacked in the more obscure parts of our memories -- not forgotten, just buried under multiple layers of our mental archaeological strata, just below our consciousness. Every now and then, something happens that causes the memory to resurface and morph into an earworm, and you're left thinking, 'whoa, I really dug that one up there! How many years has it been since I've listened to that song?'. :notsure:

For me, today that song was Shelter by Greenwheel:

This was a favourite when I was a teenager, back in 2002.

I found my old ass binder full of CDs from my teen years, so I've been reliving all my old musical choices in their questionable and nostalgic glory. This particular song seems apropos, though...

I have to ask. What's an 'ass binder'?

In this context, ass is used as an adjective to say that shizz is from the late 90s-early 2000s, yo. Practically vintage. ;)

So it's not a specialised bum bag that you kept CDs in to feed your CD Walkman?

Jane Says by Jane's Addiction. I'm either not technologically proficient enough or just too damned lazy to provide the video link.

Also almost any Pixies song. They're my desert island band.

I Need You by America was perhaps my favorite song back in my late teens. Particularly when I was 17, IIRC. I don't know it's been over a decade now!

My mother was friendly with a Portuguese family, who always had this kind of music playing in their house when we visited.
