Let me start by telling you an origin story.

It starts with an animated orange with fake Barbie hair implants running for presidential office in the US. This orange was able to contort his facial butthole and scream "Make America great again" so effectively that gradually he would win over supporters. He won the presidential race and moved into the White House.

One day before a private meeting with Putin, the orange accidentally took a few laxatives instead of Viagra and had to rush to the toilet. When his servant finished wiping his crack and was about to flush the toilet, a nasty piece of shit jumped out and stood before the orange.

"Who are you, diarrhea squirt?" the orange asked.

"Jair Bolsonaro", the shit replied.

"I'll forget that fast. Off you go to Brazil. You will be advised by my strategists so that you can run for president and win...and when you do, don't forget who your daddy is."

And with that the fecal matter did just as he was told, and thus began a beautiful relationshit between the orange the the proxy created in his image.

Fast forward to the coronavirus crisis. Jair "Bozo" Bolsonaro is being swept under the rug by state governors and city mayors due to his alarming ineptitude and ignorance and he's not happy. So, yesterday, in an official address to the nation he says that coronavirus is "just a mere flu virus", and that even though he's over 60 years old he's an athlete so it isn't a danger to him. He attacks science and the media (again and again). He says that if other government officials/public health experts try to isolate him it's a coup. To top the smelly turd cake he says he wants to end social isolation, reopening schools and getting commerce working again.

I...don't really know what to think about this. I wonder if it's even possible someone can be that level of imbecilic or if he has another agenda. But for now his motives don't matter. He is potentially causing confusion in the population and great future harm.

Bolsominions are becoming fewer in number at least. There has been a huge falling out between him and government officials because of his inane comments.

I'm really hopeful this will lead to an impeachment based on clear ineptitude to lead the country in this crisis. Instead of just sitting quietly under the rug with all the other garbage and letting the health experts and local governments (since central leadership is lacking) come up with guidelines and policies, he just has to try to be the center of attention again.

That would be impressive, though who will take his place?

If Bolsonaro is losing support, should be a good sign. In the US the approval rating for the presidential embarrassment has improved.  ::)

In theory, the vice president would take his place should he be impeached. But I don't know. This parasite doesn't look like he'll just leave without a fight, and he has the support of some military factions (he made sure to include them in his government...the vice is a general). Support from the population is another story...Just a couple of weeks ago he tried to get his supporters on the streets against Congress. Not many showed up.

This crisis will test Brazilian institutions as well, which seem really weak to me. We'll see if they can keep Bolsonaro and his military stooges from taking over.

Is there anywhere in the world where the approval rating for the president/prime minister has improved? ::)

Wasn't there a saying that says: "Every country gets the government it deserves"? Looks to me that the USA and Brazil have sadomasochistic tendencies  >:(

Tom. my country may very well be getting the government that we deserve.

It is clear enough that we have an enormous contingent of people who are not too bright.  We have legions of citizens who sincerely believe that our psychopathic president is in office because of Gods will.  No shit.  For some inexplicable reason our evangelicals believe that "The Donald" is the best thing that has ever happened to our country.

That the committed Christians hold Trump in such high esteem is  mind boggling.  Our guy is a pathological liar who lies even when the truth would fit better. He is profane, insulting to anyone who questions him, ignores his advisors, and claims to be a "stable genius".   Why are those people so intent on putting the teachings of their bible aside in  order to excuse the reprehensible behavior that is strictly forbidden in the good book?

Not to pick on the religious right exclusively.  We have dumb ass rednecks who are equally supportive of a leader who is his own worst enemy. More than that, he is the worst enemy of the rational conduct of our government and our nation.

Bolsonaro can not top Trumps irrational stupidity.  Sorry Silver, your guy can not be as ill tempered, corrupt, and mendacious a snake oil salesman as our guy.  Here is a virtual hug for you.
