Hey, I know nobody has adding anything to this thread since last July, but I just wanted to throw some props Squid's way for posting this.  I enjoyed the absolute hell out of reading through it.

Excellent, thanks Squid!

Very well done.

These types of arguments are particularly aggrivating because they lend a sense of credibility to the creationist view of reality.  Unless a person happens to be a physicist or astronomer, they probably won't be able to demonstrate why most of these arguments are false without doing research, which can't be done on the spot if you are debating a creationist IRL.

Wait wait wait... you mean there are really still people who think that the world is only a few thousand years old?! Wow, I thought they all just explained that away somehow... *goes to take her asprin*

Somebody had a fun debate. Aren't forums fun?
I want bad people to look forward to and celebrate the day I die, because if they don't, I'm not living up to my potential.

It IS hard to believe, isn't it?  But I know at least 6 "young earth creationists" right at my son's school.  They tend to place it at 6000 to 7000 years old, based on the "year is a day and day is a year" to god verse.  My question to them is always... so exactly WHEN does your counter start?  If they wrote that a few thousand years ago, does it start when they wrote it or when you read it?  Is this a perpetual 7000 years... always 7000 years from any given day?

Idiots.

It can now be considered a "classic" because it has withstood the test of time!

Haha...I look back at this post and realize that I've set the bar higher for many of my debate and rebuttal posts.  Less website reliance and more journal references to original research and so forth.

I have noticed - although the website references are still effective (and all that I can personally muster), your revised approach drips with credibility and has a devastating effect on the argument (IMHO, of course    ).

And I value every bit of the humble opinion Steve.  Muchas gracias.
