Im not terrified one bit.

Since when are the ten commandments controversial?

Is stealing, adutlery, coveting neighbors goods suddenly seen as good? Come on people

I am in Minnesota and I can't wait for some big stone tablets to come up near the capital. It would do Moses proud!

The United States is not a theocracy, despite the best efforts of contemptible zealots like Moore. That you would ally yourself with him doesn't speak well for your understanding of and respect for the ideals of the United States, as embodied in the US Constitution.

I have a feeling "Sister" would be more comfortable in the Republic of Gilead.  Too bad she missed The Handmaid's Tale in October.

I still have that feeling that Aggie is trolling.

Ole Roy is way over matched. Kimmel has a large national audience of fairly intelligent people. Moore has a fundamentally ignorant and relatively tiny  band of religious zealots who endorse him.  Moore had best leave it to hell alone. He is going bear hunting with a switch.  (switch is a southern term that implies the small branch of a tree or plant that has had its leaves removed. It was/is an instrument of corporal punishment for unruly children)

Roy has put his foot in it in more ways that one.  http://www.newsweek.com/roy-moore-child-molester-alabama-727854  If there is any substance to this report, will the women of Alabame still vote for him?  I am sorely afraid that they will.

Right now it appears he will win.  It will take another generation before the South begins to turn.

Doug Jones is fighting the good fight, and it's simply appalling that Roy Moore even has a chance of winning. But here's my thoughts and my guesses: Alabamans are deeply religious, they don't think too deeply. They equate Republicans with God and Democrats with .... non-Christianity.
Republicans=God-endorsed.
Democrats=the Godless fall of our country.
So it doesn't matter who they get on their Republican ticket, that's who they're going to vote for, regardless of the candidate's transgressions.  It's a whole state full of people who have been taught from birth to make excuses for "Godly" men doing bad stuff and then overlook it and "leave it in God's hands".

The good news is #1, surprises happen! Moore might actually lose after all. #2, the tide is changing. Slowly down here in the south, but it's happening.

near term fate of our nation.
It is Tuesday December 12, about 9 PM here in the eastern time zone. The votes are not yet in so that we can not yet determine whether Alabama is actually the dumbest state in the nation.  There are pockets of sanity in Alabama. Those places are in the more educated areas around Birmingham, Huntsville, Mobile, and Auburn. ....................Oh what the hell, we will know tomorrow.

The outcome of this regional election has implications for the near term fate of our nation. (sigh)

It is reported that some of today's voters used the write in option for Nick Saban.  For those who do not know who Saban is, he is the coach of the Univ. Of Alabama Football team. That team has been at or near number one in the nation for some timeww now.  Therefore the coach, Saban, is equivalent in stature to the Jesus.

It's a weird day when I have to say that I've had any faith restored when Alabama failed to vote a pedophile into the Senate. ...but here we are, in this current political climate, I didn't know what a Republican could do to make them lose.

But he lost. Thank goodness. Roy Moore can go away forever now, preferably to jail, but I know how our legal system is.

Had to read three accounts before I found the figures, a 1,5% margin and Moore talking about a recount. It can be very difficult to remove very tenacious slime, it just sticks like shit to the fabric of society.

Re-write due to misunderstanding:

I thought "write in" votes were postal ones, seems you have a thing here where voters can add a name to the candidate list. But if Moore's name was already on the list I am not sure how the part emboldened below applies. Unless . . .

Also mentioned on the radio, just now, were actual postal votes from servicemen etc, but no estimated figures given.

QuoteWith 99 percent of precincts reporting Tuesday night, Jones had 673,236 votes, while Moore had 652,300 — a difference of 20,936. That number is less than the 22,780 write-in votes, meaning, theoretically, that Moore could have appeared as a write-in candidate on enough ballots to win.

Under Alabama election laws, a recount is required if the margin of victory is within 0.5 percent.

Yup, Roy Moore is done. He just can't accept the fact that God's Will was so thwarted. Because wasn't he "Chosen by God, for such an hour as this"?
I know how hard it is to feel like God didn't keep his promises. Hang in there Ol' Roy. Or don't. Whatever.
