It's pretty much a dead cert that this particular pious pustule is not the first to sing from the old hymnal, but isn't it comforting that he's so tight with the dunderheads in charge?

The Intercept is definitely a biased source, and I have little time for Glenn Greenwald himself, but the facts it presents in this story are verifiable.

"Trump Cabinet Bible Teacher Blames Coronavirus Pandemic on God's Wrath — Somehow It Involves China, Gay People, and Environmentalists" | The Intercept

QuoteRalph Drollinger, a minister who leads a weekly Bible study group for President Donald Trump's cabinet, released a new interpretation of the coronavirus pandemic this week, arguing that the crisis represents an act of God's judgment.

The coronavirus, Drollinger argues in two blog posts and a rambling Bible study guide published in the past few days, is a form of God's wrath upon nations, but not one as severe as the floods described in the Old Testament or the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.

"Relative to the coronavirus pandemic crisis, this is not God's abandonment wrath nor His cataclysmic wrath, rather it is sowing and reaping wrath," wrote Drollinger. "A biblically astute evaluation of the situation strongly suggests that America and other countries of the world are reaping what China has sown due to their leaders' recklessness and lack of candor and transparency."

Neither does he miss a chance to condemn those who worship the "religion of environmentalism" and express a "proclivity toward lesbianism and homosexuality." These individuals, Drollinger argues in "Is God Judging America Today?", one of the minister's posts about coronavirus pandemic, have infiltrated "high positions in our government, our educational system, our media and our entertainment industry" and "are largely responsible for God's consequential wrath on our nation."

In the Bible study, Drollinger meanders through scripture, explaining the ways in which God may have caused the coronavirus. In a footnote, he hedges on his previous argument that the virus represents a mild form of God's wrath, noting that, "We'll soon see a human cure for the coronavirus."

[. . .]

The Drollinger-led Bible study meets every Wednesday morning with members of Trump's cabinet, including Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, and Health Secretary Alex Azar. Carson and Azar, notably, are members of the coronavirus task force guiding the federal government response to the pandemic.

Vice President Mike Pence, a member of the task force and a listed host of Capitol Ministries, is also tied to the Bible study. Emails obtained by Gizmodo show administration officials coordinating with Drollinger's group to schedule a session of the Bible study, including the possibility of hosting the weekly event in Pence's West Wing office.

At least 52 GOP lawmakers also participate in a Capitol Hill version of Drollinger's Bible study, which meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Sponsors of the event include House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., and Sen. John Thune, R-S.D., the second-ranking GOP lawmaker in the Senate.

The evangelical lessons are carefully catered to conservative ideology, with a focus on interpreting current events through a partisan lens. Drollinger's study guides have provided biblical justification for the Trump administration's undocumented immigrant child separation policies and arguments in favor of lower taxes on the wealthy.

"Virginia Pastor Who Said COVID-19 Was Anti-Trump 'Mass Hysteria' Dies of Virus" | Friendly Atheist

QuoteYesterday, one of the first deaths of a Virginia resident from COVID-19 was a Christian musical evangelist who, believing the pandemic response to be anti-Trump "mass hysteria," took his family to New Orleans to "wash it from its Sin and debauchery."

QuoteA Gretna man who had double pneumonia and tested positive for COVID-19 in Concord North Carolina died around 4 a.m. Wednesday, the family reports.

Landon Spradlin, 66, was an accomplished blues musician who pastored several different churches over the years.

Spradlin was in New Orleans with his wife, Jean Spradlin, when he started getting sick. On their way back to Gretna on March 17, his condition worsened to the point where he could hardly breathe...

The Roanoke Times described Spradlin as a "traveling musical minister" and "fine guitarist" with a "powerful soul-blues voice," at one time "a significant part of the Roanoke-area blues scene."

At times the fallacy of thought of these guys is astounding. Apparently he doesn't know that about 5000 floks in the US have died this year from the regular flu. Who's the most unrighteous, the one's affected by covin 19  or the others.
The only thing possible the world needs saving from are the ones running it.
Oh lord, save us from those wanting to save us.

I do not understand the nature of your post.

Are you saying this virus is a blessing from God?

If you are of the belief there is no God what does it matter what others believe? It's not like Trump will enact a virus God appeasement tax. in fact non fake news sources report that this guy is just some preacher that several of trumps cabinet follow blog posts, and he holds no official roll in the white house what so ever, and as a result of his condemnation Trump and the white house is distancing themselves from him.

Meaning is your thread here meant to congratulate the president for distancing The office of the presidency from hypocritical men like this?

What's to understand? You're not stupid. This asswipe is revelling in his fantasy supernatural hero bringing the big hurt to the faithless masses, who most assuredly deserve it, in his twisted world view.

Yeah, that's it precisely. You're so insightful.  :eh:

So, what "non fake news sources" do you have to support your assertions, Drich? It's all very well to sneer at what's in front of you, but you have provided bupkis to refute it. The one source you have supports the claim in the Intercept article regarding Drollinger leading "Bible study" groups which are attended by officials in the Trump administration. Trump has enabled goons like this all through his presidency, regardless of Trump's own obvious religious belief, which is "Donny should receive adulation from all".

The article I quoted didn't claim that Trump himself was closely involved with Drollinger. It's his bootlicking Christian hard-liner vice president who's been Drollinger's entree to the administration.

The president didn't "distance himself." It was his deputy press secretary, and that happened only after Drollinger's vile yapping was called out by what you no doubt would claim are "fake news" sources. I don't see anything at all about Pence "distancing himself" and expect that he and other Christofascists like DeVos, Carson, Azar, and Pompeo will continue to attend the "Bible study" group.
