Title: All Things Dog
Post by: xSilverPhinx on March 24, 2018, 02:54:28 PM
As the Merovingian in the Matrix said, "You see, there is only one constant, one universal, it is the only real truth: causality. Action, reaction. Cause, effect."

An All Things Cat (http://www.happyatheistforum.com/forum/index.php?topic=15693.0) thread has been generated from the chaos, and now a Dog thread must too. It is the law of the Universe, and such a law must be obeyed.

Ever hear of the story of Hachikō (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hachik%C5%8D)? The loyal Akita who would wait for his deceased owner at a train station in Japan for 9 years until his death?  :cryandrun:

Tell me that doesn't pull on your heartstrings?

Yes, I have heard of the dog. It is a very touching bit of history.

I watched a Japanese movie on the story a long time ago, I forgot the name and can't find it on YouTube, though.:(  By the time it ended I was a babbling mess who couldn't stop crying. Who knew a human could produce that much fluid from their eye glands?   :waah:

Dogs make great family members. They bring love, joy, a couple of loud smelly farts here and there, and happiness.

Yes, it does, Silver.

Then my head strings think, "What a bloody stupid dog!"

Have you head of "Blackfriars Bobbie" (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greyfriars_Bobby)

I wonder whether a cat would do the same.

Naw, cats are pragmatic! You must know the old joke about the man laying, out cold, at the bottom of the stairs.

His dog is thinking, "Master, master, get up, tell me what to do. Oh, what do I do, do you want your slippers? A paper? Tell me, tell me . . ."

The cat is thinking, "You gonna get up and feed me or do I start eating your face?"

That's probably why I like cats.

'Isle of Dogs' scratches quirky itch with animated fantasy

QuoteSet in Japan "20 years in the future," the movie (which mirrors Anderson's "Fantastic Mr. Fox" by using puppets, a bit like '60s TV specials on psychedelics) focuses on a world where dogs have been infected with a flu and isolated on a desolate tract of land known as Trash Island. Their plight, in fact, is the work of a dog-hating politician who comes from a clan with a long cat-loving lineage.
That sets up a few parallel plots, starting with the dogs, who are struggling to survive their ordeal when 12-year-old Atari (voiced by Koyu Rankin) bravely comes to the island, looking to find his own long-lost mutt. He encounters a group of alpha dogs that includes Chief (Bryan Cranston), a stray who will have to be grudgingly won over to this whole master thing, despite the testimonials provided by his companions, voiced by Edward Norton, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Murray, and Bob Balaban. Other bold-face names in the sprawling cast include Scarlett Johansson, Greta Gerwig, Harvey Keitel and Yoko Ono.

This looks great!

That first post made me cry.

Why did I read it again?

Ok I didn't cry but I feel bad now.

This is one of the reasons I love doing what I do. The positive recognition and loyalty. That guy was so good to his dog that his dog waited for him every day until he himself died. If someone did that to me and I could magically see them from some version of an afterlife, I would be so grateful. I would want to do more good things.
