I live across the street from a beautiful large Baptist church that went tits up a couple of years ago.  Another church group bought the building and grounds.  It is the Hillsong church...an Aussie invented curse sent here to the US. (Sorry Bluenose and Pudding, no offense intended)

That Hillsong outfit is huge and hundreds of automobiles show up twice on Sundays and once on Wednesdays and often for special events on Saturdays. The congregation consists mainly of 20 or 30 somethings. A younger crowd.

Cool, let them do their Jesus thing if that makes them happy...................all except for one detail.  Whenever the crowd arrives, the sounds of a powerful Boom Box shatters the atmosphere.  A little bit of that is enough but it is persistent.

After a few weeks of that noise I became a bit annoyed. We do have noise ordinances in my city as do most other cities around the nation. I called my local law enforcement agency to learn about the specifics of noise abatement ordinances.

Here is what I learned. Yes we can and will  cite an individual for excessive noise, but we can not cite a church for excessive noises.  No shit Batman?  Yep ! Churches get a free pass.   OK, so I am an old curmudgeon who does not appreciate that ear shattering noise from Boom boxes.  I have another church a half mile away who has  carillon facilities which they use with some degree of appreciation for neighborhood tranquility.  I rather like the occasional bells......................not the Boom box throbbing. window rattling, peace disturbing, thump thump thump.

Why the fuck does a church get a free pass?  My city is a long way from being a bible belt place but the rules are still tilted toward the glory of Jesus. ............So that is why I am Grumpy today.

2120 as of today.

Yes, it would be very helpful and bring perspective if the current season's influenza deaths be posted side by side with the Corona virus mortalities.  It might even influence those who never get flu shots to be persuaded to do so, when they see the annual influenza deaths numbers.

14k people dead from flu and complications, millions infected. Corona virus is a piker and getting inflated air time.

:secrets1:  They probably have to play their music loud because deep down they know god can't hear them.

The grumpy point, if any, is that churches are immune from noise abatement  ordinances.

That isn't right at all. Churches should be required to follow ordinances just like everyone else. I'd suggest trying again with a different LEO.
