I was confused by that movie too... the whole idea was silly to me and I thought it was pretty funny. But there are a lot of long boring scenes.

The cougar, the raccoon (the mischievous twins), the grizzly bears, the porcupine, the horses, and specially the buffalo did a wonderful job.  ;D

Everyone but the humans were great. The buffalo was hilarious, I got the impression that the buffalo was messing with the rider the whole time.

Also...
The couple takes care of Buffalo Jones, a total stranger, and when the man gets mauled by the bear, the first thing Buffalo Jones says is, "I'm leaving."
:???:

The trip back to the couple's house with the baby will take him 4 days, so he takes a "shortcut." Man! It felt like a month!  >:(
And the baby...nothing to eat for two days!!! And then he gives him porcupine broth!  :o When he's crossing the river, the baby is underwater for a long time, but you can still hear him crying.

Buffalo Jones...man, I feel sorry for him, he looks as if he's crazy glued to the buffalo.

Why, Davin? Why did you make me watch this movie!?
I would rather watch The Room 20 times.

Quote from: Icarus on August 09, 2017, 09:21:09 PMRacism exists everywhere, not just in those states under the video indictment. Racism goes in both directions and that is a reality that we need not ignore. I flew into Los Angeles, rented a car and began to try to find my way to the Hotel where I was to attend business meetings.  I was not exactly lost in the car but I was stopped by a motorcycle cop. He told me in no uncertain terms that I was in an unhealthy place for a white guy to be. He was serious. He asked where I was going. I told him the name of the hotel. He said:  "follow me I will get you out of this area". I did follow him out and away from that neighborhood. Good cop, he was painfully aware of the dangerous racism in that district.
That the fuck? I find this incredibly difficult to believe.
This is so weird because I know a Latina woman who by the way is racist towards whites, who told me the EXACT SAME STORY! The exact same story! She was lost, a cop pulled her over and said the exact same thing to her! He told her to follow him and escorted her out of the "dangerous area." --Wow! I too find it difficult to believe. I would've reported that police officer.

I did not make up that tale. It happened in the late nineties and some of the Los Angelinos in certain areas were still in a bad mood.  The cop was just doing his job and he was doing it well. L.A. has had a lot of bad publicity about their cops but they are not all bad asses with a racist agenda. I was, and am, still grateful for the good advice and assistance that the cop gave me.  Does anyone remember during the Rodney King episode, the destruction of whole neighborhoods?  How about the poor truck driver who was pulled out of his truck and nearly beaten to death just because he was white And in the wrong neighborhood?   The cops, almost, but not quite all of them, do tend to do as their motto says: "To serve and Protect".

I did report that police officer when I got back home. I wrote a letter to the chief of police in support and appreciation of what that cop did on my behalf. Truth to tell the whole episode might have been some kind of spoof that the cop was doing. My car was easily identifiable as a rental and therefore I was identifiable as a  dumb tourist. The cop could have been funnin' me. I'll never know or even need to know, but in the heat of that moment I was glad to be the victim of a possible prank. It certainly may not have been a prank.

"...still in a bad moood..."
Late 90's was about ten years after the riots, however, Los Angelinos also remember the Watts Riots, 1965. Another reason to put someone in a bad mood, don't you think?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watts_riots

QuoteThe Watts riots, sometimes referred to as the Watts Rebellion,[1] took place in the Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles from August 11 to 16, 1965.
On August 11, 1965, an African-American motorist was arrested for suspicion of drunk driving. A minor roadside argument broke out, and then escalated into a fight. The community reacted in outrage to allegations of police brutality that soon spread, and six days of looting and arson followed. Los Angeles police needed the support of nearly 4,000 members of the California Army National Guard to quell the riots, which resulted in 34 deaths[2] and over $40 million in property damage. The riots were blamed principally on police racism. It was the city's worst unrest until the Rodney King riots of 1992.

I agree with you. Not all of them are bad asses with a racist agenda.

I'm sure you are grateful for the good advice and assistance that cop gave you, I'm sure Rodney King would've love the same courtesy from the police department.

To me it's not the "Rodney King episode." It's the "Rodney King beating."

Yes, Reginald Denny, I remember him by name and last name, always. --Very sad.

Your words Icarus: "White and in the wrong neighborhood."
I don't understand what this means.

Mr. Denny was attacked by thugs in a neighborhood, Mr. Rodney King was attacked by police officers. Your words: "The cops, almost, but not quite all of them, do tend to do as their motto says: "To serve and Protect". Yes, but we're just a little confused about those who do not tend to do as their motto says...who is it that they serve and what is it that they protect? And while we are at it, we're also confused, and in a bad mood, about the excessive amount of force they use with certain people in certain neighborhoods.

So, this still rings as a made up tale. And it's made worse what you just said.

Quote from: Icarus on August 10, 2017, 11:16:58 PM
I did not make up that tale.
Maybe you didn't, it's not first time I've heard almost exactly the same thing.

Quote from: IcarusIt happened in the late nineties and some of the Los Angelinos in certain areas were still in a bad mood.
What does that mean?

Quote from: IcarusThe cop was just doing his job and he was doing it well. L.A. has had a lot of bad publicity about their cops but they are not all bad asses with a racist agenda.
There is a lot to unpack there. I know not all cops are bad, that's pretty much a given. Some of my best friends are cops.  ;) Also, it doesn't take a racist agenda to be a racist cop. Some of them merely suffer from a racial bias that leads them to treat certain people worse and certain people better. L.A. has earned their bad rap as well, so I don't feel bad for them.

Quote from: IcarusI was, and am, still grateful for the good advice and assistance that the cop gave me.
Even if it was wrong?

Quote from: IcarusDoes anyone remember during the Rodney King episode, the destruction of whole neighborhoods?
I'm still angry that none of those cops were punished. And every time a cop gets off pisses me off even more. No one should be above the law, not even and I think especially those who swore uphold it. And you can only push people so far. They try more than anyone should have to to work through the system. And the system fails them time and time again. I'm sure you're fine with all the police brutality against minorities for now. But if you're not against it now, don't start getting all uppity when cops start killing old people and getting away with it, because by then you will have no leg to stand on to oppose a police state.

Quote from: IcarusHow about the poor truck driver who was pulled out of his truck and nearly beaten to death just because he was white And in the wrong neighborhood?
That was an awful thing that those people did to him.

Quote from: IcarusThe cops, almost, but not quite all of them, do tend to do as their motto says: "To serve and Protect".
And a lot of them still hold prejudices against black people and minorities.

Quote from: IcarusI did report that police officer when I got back home. I wrote a letter to the chief of police in support and appreciation of what that cop did on my behalf. So it doesn't matter to you if it's true or not. Why even express the story then?

I'm going to be honest here. What I think of police training: Police are trained to agitate people. And when they are agitated, they attack. And when they attack, police have the excuse to do anything they want from beating them like Rodney King to using effective lethal force. And people hide behind that they are "just doing their job" or that they are "following their training". Yes they are following their training because they are trained to provoke you into a aggressive hostile! There is no such thing as free will if someone knows your triggers, and cops are trained and gain experience to do this!
