This thread should clear up all your doubts, if not then ask. :)

How to add an image to your posts. (http://www.happyatheistforum.com/forum/index.php?topic=7484.0)

What other types of files are you looking to upload, as far as I know, we can't upload regular office files such as Word or PDF files, rather we embed image, gifs, youtube videos...

Hi G

You can link to files/images here but not attach files or upload files. As we have a PM system being allowed to attach files could be abused to distribute inappropriate material. So all links have to be to publicly visible material.

Does that help?

It explains your pov and policy  ;D

Suppose it depends on how much you trust the inmates users. There was hever any problem (that I know of) in the years I spent on Think Humanism where attaching was allowed (so much faster and more convenient). Does this method actually preclude putting inages in PMs? Have not tried a PM here yet, but what if I want to send an image, like a Google map, to a fellow user for her/his attention alone?

Later: OK, email may be available!

Trust comes after a period of time. So any new user could have an ulterior motive for joining. So who do I trust? Secondly if a person were trying to communicate child porn via attachments then I as an admin would see them on my PC, admins see all attachments as they are uploaded. The act of 'seeing' those images puts a copy on my PC. In the UK it is an offence to have CP on your computer. Now there is a valid reason in this case, but I'd have to go to court to prove that, but only after I'd been charged with possession. So attachments are never going to be activated here.

Good points.
