1. Abolish lifetime tenure for federal judges by amending Article III, Section I of the Constitution.
The biggest problem I can think of is...how long a tenure would they have? The next problem is able to stack the SC with like minded Congress.

2. Congress should have the power to override Supreme Court decisions with a two-thirds vote.
Then why have a SC?

3. Scrap the federal income tax by repealing the Sixteenth Amendment.
Well, take away income tax, the only way the government can run is by taxation from other means.

4. End the direct election of senators by repealing the Seventeenth Amendment.
Appointed by? I can see the Christian Fascists chomping at the bit for this one.

5. Require the federal government to balance its budget every year.
Balancing the budget is not the same as balancing the deficit.

6. The federal Constitution should define marriage as between one man and one woman in all 50 states.
I don't think the way to go is to stop individual state rights.

7. Abortion should be made illegal throughout the country.

I'm so not voting for this guy.

I'm still not voting for this guy.

The essence of the mind is not in what it thinks, but how it thinks. Faith is the surrender of our mind; of reason and our skepticism to put all our trust or faith in someone or something that has no good evidence of itself. That is a sinister thing to me. Of all the supposed virtues, faith is not.

I wouldn't vote for this guy mainly based on his "we have economic problems, let us pray" mindset. But i'll be damned to vote for any jerk who wants to take away a woman's rights.

Part of the problem with wackos like this is that they don't think of the potential consequences of getting what they want...

1. Abolish lifetime tenure for federal judges by amending Article III, Section I of the Constitution.

This could lead to a Supreme Court with multiple personality disorder.  With term limits, the makeup of the court would change more quickly than just once a generation, leading to courts that keep going back and forth on big, important issues, leaving the rest of us in confusion about what the law really is.

2. Congress should have the power to override Supreme Court decisions with a two-thirds vote.

So this one could easily backfire on Perry.  Right now, the court leans conservative.  The court has already ruled that corporations are people and can behave like people in political campaigns.  What if we get a sufficiently liberal congress to overturn this one with a two-thirds vote?  Would he still agree with this?  As it is, congress already has this power, so long as they follow up the vote with enough states ratifying, making a constitutional amendment.

3. Scrap the federal income tax by repealing the Sixteenth Amendment.

I guess he wants to rely upon some sort of sales tax?  His rich people spend more money and would pay higher taxes.

4. End the direct election of senators by repealing the Seventeenth Amendment.

So senators would be appointed again.  Would suck for him if the state legislatures were largely democratic if that happened.

5. Require the federal government to balance its budget every year.

Once he is president and has a balanced budget, that's when something will happen, like a terrorist attack, that he would wish to respond to with military force.  However, without the ability to go into deficit, he will be handcuffed to defend our country or to go war-mongering like his fellow Republicans were enjoying to do this past decade.

6. The federal Constitution should define marriage as between one man and one woman in all 50 states.

Does this include men who used to be women and women who used to be men?  Will there be DNA tests to prove it?  I wish some of these people would find out they have gay children, just like Cheney.  Cheney, for all his faults, now supports gay rights.

7. Abortion should be made illegal throughout the country.

Without abortion we have no ability to control whether more people like him will be born.  That makes the country weaker while he's president.

Oh crap, I guess this

I'm so not voting for this guy.

Just 6 and 7 are enough to make me stop listening to this guy; the rest only digs the hole deeper.

Some good points Fester; I will say, though, I don't think any power or paradigm shifts will repeal the judgement of the "personhood" of corporations. I think those in power have been salivating over that idea for so long, that now that it's come to fruition, we have no hope to get rid of it. As Carlin might have said "the owners have spoken." It would be nice to see the rich pay more sales tax, but it would crush the already-weak poor and middle classes, so it would ultimately play into Perry's plan. I like the idea of transsexuals fitting into the plan, for no other reason than I'd love to see a conservative Christian try to explain what sufficient identification might be.

And to think I was afraid of Palin as VP.  To be honest, I still am but Perry makes her look like merely a rabid puppy.  Perry never had a chance of getting my vote since I've always considered him the type to use the Constitution as a kleenex.

True, they just do the damage and then blame the next Democratic President for it.

Vividly, I just wish I could trust others to remember.

Amazing how we as Americans have the attention span of a flea. It baffles me that people are quick to find flaws in the current administration, yet the complaints pail in comparison to those of the previous regime.

Like the complaints that Obama is a "socialist"?

I think Americans (heck, maybe most people) just react to what's immediately in front of them, treat it as if it materialized out of thin air, and vote for whoever they don't blame for it.  Either that, or treat the elections like a horse race and vote for the likeliest winner, not for who they think will do the better job.

And people love to ignore the fact most areas of our system are actually "dirty evil socialist" ideas dressed up and renamed something more palatable, because socialism is such a dirty word. Thanks, McCarthyism! And with the careless voting, I blame disinformation spewed by the FOX propaganda machine, the Constantine-minded churches that can't separate themselves from politics, and the stupid individuals that aren't able to think for themselves, so instead take the words at face value. That, of course, is closely followed by racial/social bigotry and the "But Palin is so hit" mentality.
