I found myself giving an impromptu lecture, with questions, on atheism, humanism and agnosticism in Gloucester Docks today.

Whilst taking photos I got talking to a fellow photographer, chap from Birmingham area by his accent and part of a camera club outing. His asked me if I was in a local club and I said, "No, we have a sort of camera group on a forum I inhabit and we publish there and have competitions."

"A photographic forum?"

"No, an atheist one."

"Are atheists like that other lot, agno . . .?

"Agnostics, and no . . ."

It went on from there. For about 20 minutes.

But, then we got onto cameras, he had  Nikon D4S, only £2 500+ worth . . .  But - 11 RAW frames per second, continuous, with no buffering, to a high speed SD card!

His wife just sat there quietly.

Did your atheistic lecture make him shutter?

Nope, he did not tell me to "f stop" either. He did zoom in on a couple of point on ethics. But it was not really a wide angle view of the subject.

Be careful... wouldn't want to over-expose him to your heathen ways.

He gave every indication of just being one of those people who doesn't need religion to teach them to be a decent person. Probably hadn't been to church since he, or a friend or relation, did the "accepted" (but basicslly meaningless) thing for his generation (he was retired so 60+) at a church wedding or something.

So I was just filling a gap in his curiosity I think.

Good on you, mate!
