Title: Australia's Government
Post by: Ecurb Noselrub on August 24, 2018, 08:32:24 PM
What's going on with the fruit basket turnover with Australian PMs?  6 of them in a little more than a decade.  What about the new guy?

Yeah, think they have matched Italy's score of 6 PMs in ten years. Pretty good!

I put most if down to Tony Abbot

He's a pugilist literally and figuratively.

In a federal election we vote for the senate and the reps.

We can forget the senate for now.

The country is divided into electorates of equalish population.
The people vote for their local rep.
The party that gets the most elected local reps wins.
The local reps of the winning side choose the Prime Minister.

If things aren't going well in the media,
If the polls aren't looking good,
The local reps get concerned about their re-election prospects.
So they ditch the leader.

From that picture I would say that he is what might be called, "A rum looking cove"?
