I wonder if anyone here has read this book (or the entire trilogy...or the newest prequel). Pullman has publically identified as an atheist, and his world view colors his fiction, sometimes overtly.

Yeah, he's been upsetting Christians for years. Isn't the story in one of his books about killing God?

I saw a theatre production of HDM in two parts some years ago. Dark, indeed.

All four of them. Excellent novels thoufh I think that The Golden Compass and The Book of Dust were the strongest.

I've heard of them, but haven't read any of them. Maybe I'll give them a go sometime.
