I've been posting on and off at the atheist forum on Topix.  At first trouncing Christian trolls was kind of fun, but once I'd finished countering or at least identifying each of the many logical fallacies that they insist on repeating ad nauseum, I started to get bored.  Now it seems that the only conversations that take place are sweet nothings between regulars and the constant back and forth debate of a question that, for all of the participants, is already settled on way or another--an exercise in futility.

My purpose in surfing the web is to read, think about, and respond to interesting ideas with interesting people.  I'm hoping that I will find here what is missing in Topix--a place where exploring ideas is more important to writers than winning debates is.  That said, I am neither a scientist nor a scholar, just a writer and a thinker.

Like old Bilbo, "I think I'm quite ready for another adventure."  Is this it?  I hope so.

Hello and welcome, NightSerf.

I hope that this place provides you with at least occasional diversion.  I think that there are regulars here who fit your description. (And a few who've come and gone who certainly did as well.)  Personally, I've really enjoyed reading some of the posts here, and look forward to perusing stuff from you in the future.

ive enjoyed my time here, its mainly atheists here but the accasional theist, or crazy atheist that doesnt like other atheists has came through. but all in all a rather chill place.
