This was an interesting doc by Richard Dawkins about faith schools in the UK.

Unfortunately i fear our American friends will not be able to view this but i'm sure it will be available through other, er, less scrupulous means.  :D
QuoteI find it mistifying that in this age of information, some people still deny the scientific history of our existence.

Your Scandinavian friends can't watch it either...

Try these. Someone put them up in another forum. I can't access them to see if they work, because I'm in the UK!

EDIT: Very nice. Personally, I wouldn't give the parents ownership of their kids. Once it can be considered a person, slavery laws should take care of that. In questions like religion, I'd let the kids choose whatever they like.

My favourite part was with the biology teacher. All the bunkum about how she teaches evolution, and let's the kids make up their own mind, followed by the exposure of her own, staggering ignorance (anyone who even casually browses these forums would know the answer she screwed up, I would be very interested in what qualifications she may or may not have) by one of her own students no less. To me, that whole part looked prepared anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if someone at the school had Googled for problems in evolution to try and trip him up, call me a cynic. Unfortunately for them, they happened on the website of a cretin, and they attempted to match wits with a professor of evolutionary biology.

Other things that irked me, 1/3 of all schools are religious? WTF? I went to a comprehensive secondary school with no religious stuff, though I was forced to sing hymns in primary school. I wouldn't even mind so much having religious schools, if the churches paid for them and they were regulated in the same way as state schools. If the church wants a school to indoctrinate the young before they have developed their critical faculties and are vulnerable to this rot, PAY FOR THEM YOUR BLOODY SELVES! The thought that my taxes contribute 90% of the funding for these schools truly sickens me. We don't have separation of church and state over here, but we do have this sort of low level favouritism and special allowances that really piss me off.

Oh, yeah..! "Why are there still apes?" was priceless. She was all like " Errmm... "

MY natural science teacher was a geologist by profession, so we got all them nifty answers to such questions at a reasonably early age.
