Title: sound sublime and mundane, a genteel discussion
Post by: Bad Penny II on May 28, 2016, 04:00:24 PM
Quote"Pretty Vacant" is a song by the English punk rock band the Sex Pistols
QuoteAccording to bassist Glen Matlock, the song's main riff was inspired by hearing "S.O.S." by ABBA.

They are both undeniably excellent tunes but I never noticed the connection.

They both incorporate descending sequences, but (like you Bad Penny II) other than that I don't notice a marked similarity. Interesting.

Hear him, that's how a sensitive soul says you're dumped.

QuoteSunrise doesn't last all morning
A cloudburst doesn't last all day
Seems my love is up and has left you with no warning
It's not always going to be this grey

All things must pass
All things must pass away

Sunset doesn't last all evening
A mind can blow those clouds away
After all this, my love is up and must be leaving
It's not always going to be this grey

All things must pass
All things must pass away
All things must pass
None of life's strings can last
So, I must be on my way
And face another day

It didn't hurt, I liked Eric better anyway.
