anti-internet piracy?

Apparently some corporations are working on a way to stop internet piracy via secret meetings.  Rumor is that these corporations might put a trojan on your machine.  They don't realize that by doing this it will only piss hackers off more and make them more determined.  Also how would they catch you?  Would they steal personal information off of your computer?  Would this violate an invasion of privacy law?
