Alright... so I have been thinking about different thought processes between atheists and religious individuals. I haven't been able to find anything on google for exactly what I'm talking about, so I guess I'm looking for perspective here.

I've decided that human thought process is based on 2 questions "How?" or "Why?". That individuals that base their thought process with the question "How?" rely on faith. Individuals that base their thought process with the question "Why?" rely on logic.

I feel like a faith based thought process is flawed and is an anchor for the progression of mankind. You will accept what cannot be proven without thinking otherwise. This thought process is where religion can flourish. I see it as a very closed minded way of thinking. I think this way of thinking is forced on individuals and is the reason for ignorance. A faith based thought process has not brought much good.

I feel like a logic based thought process is essential for the progression of mankind. Rather than blindly following what you are told you like to figure out things for yourself. This thought process makes for a very open minded person. I think most atheists have a logic based thought process which is why they do not believe in a higher being. This way of thinking is the only way I feel like major problems in life are solved. I'm sure Darwin had a very logic based way of thinking. This way of thinking is discouraged but I feel like is the only reason we have made it this far.
So0o0o0o0o0o....

Religion only leads to ignorance. Ignorance only leads to discrimination. Discrimination only leads to violence.

So religion is the root of all evil?

What do you think you base your thought process on?

Am I even articulating a complete thought?

Also I decided that the thought process of "How?" will slowly begin to die out in 2012.

Hahaha... I haven't slept in 2 days...

No thought processes are based in logic, logic is the means by which proper inferences are drawn from established premises to proposed conclusions. Logic never begins a thought process, it is the tool we use to follow through with a coherent thought.

"How" and "why" have their contexts, and appropriate use. "Why the hell did you hit me?!" Is an intelligible question to ask to a person who is capable of taking action with intention. Screaming "why did you wreck my house hurricane?!"... not so much.

Likewise, asking "How did you punch me in the face?!" seems like a strange question unless they were in a position that would normally disallow such an action, while asking "how did that hurricane wreck my house" is not only a legitimate question, but an interesting one.

Ipso facto, religion can only lead to violence!!

If it were it would be impossible to point to a secular evil, one would also then be hard pressed to explain the origins of religion.

Quote from: "Demu"What do you think you base your thought process on?

Emotion, instinct, impulse, desire, lust, whim, necessity -- those sorts of things.
