So my Mormon dad likes to send me junk mail...

My biological father lately has gotten into the habit of sending me... well, crap.  And it just keeps coming.  He sent me one about how Barack Obama is a Muslim terrorist and I took the time to refute it, just to have him say "Oh this was forwarded to me I thought it was interesting nevermind".  I don't really know this guy at all, but we occasionally email and I keep getting junk.

Anyways, I got this earlier today:

(subject: I like this guy Bill)
I Am the Liberal-Progressives Worst Nightmare. I am an American.

I am a Master Mason and believe in God.

I ride Harleys Davidson Motorcycles and believe in American products.

I believe the money I make belongs to me and my family, not some Liberal governmental functionary be it Democratic or Republican!

I'm in touch with my feelings and I like it that way!

I think owning a gun doesn't make you a killer, it makes you a smart American.

I think being a minority does not make you noble or victimized, and does not entitle you to anything. Get over it!

I believe that if you are selling me a Big Mac, do it in English.

I believe everyone has a right to pray to his or her God when and where they want to.

My heroes are John Wayne, Babe Ruth , Roy Rogers, and

Willie G Davidson that makes the Awesome Harley Davidson Motorcycles.

I don't hate the rich. I don't pity the poor.

I know wrestling is fake and I don't waste my time watching or arguing about it.

I've never owned a slave, or was a slave, I haven't burned any witches or been persecuted by the Turks and neither have you! So, shut up already.

I believe if you don't like the way things are here, go back to where you came from and change your own country! This is AMERICA ..

We like it the way it is!

If you were born here and don't like it you are free to move to any Socialist country that will have you.

I want to know which church is it exactly where the Reverend Jesse Jackson preaches, where he gets his money, and why he is always part of the problem and not the solution.
Can I get an AMEN on that one?

I also think the cops have the right to pull you over if you're breaking the law, regardless of what color you are.

And, no, I don't mind having my face shown on my drivers license.

I think it's good.... And I'm proud that 'God' is written on my money

I think if you are too stupid to know how a ballot works, I don't want you deciding who should be running the most powerful nation in the world for the next four years.

I believe the president of the United States should put his hand over his heart and say the pledge of alegance and should have no reservations about wearing American flag pins on his lapel.

I dislike those people standing in the intersections trying to sell me stuff or trying to guilt me into making 'donations' to their cause. Get a Job and do your part!

I believe that it doesn't take a village to raise a child, it takes two parents.

I believe 'illegal' is illegal no matter what the lawyers think.

I believe the American flag should be the only one allowed in AMERICA !

If this makes me a BAD American, then yes, I'm a BAD American.

If you are a BAD American too, please forward this to everyone you know.

We want our country back!

I'm still trying to think of how to respond to it.

a) "I think being a minority does not make you noble or victimized, and does not entitle you to anything. Get over it!" and "I also think the cops have the right to pull you over if you're breaking the law, regardless of what color you are."

To me it sounds like he's ignorant to the types of bias that go on in the law and everywhere else.  Some minorities have it tough.  Heck, with people like him, he probably treats every other race as inferior.  I can just imagine him giving mexicans a hard time for speaking spanish, middle-eastern people a hard time for "being terrorists", indian people for stealing "our" jobs (i believe that is the fault of our corporations, not the indian people), and such.
Many non-Caucasian races have it hard, and I find it worrysome that there are people who deny this exists, and say that they're faking it and whatnot.

b) "I don't pity the poor."

Why not?  Because you (read- my biodad) think they're faking, too?  They could be middle class if they just worked harder, right?
What is this total denial of realizing people have it hard in this country.  People aren't poor because they want to be...  Yes, you hear about the people who take advantage of welfare, but how many people is that?  Honestly?

c) "I believe if you don't like the way things are here, go back to where you came from and change your own country! This is AMERICA ..", "If you were born here and don't like it you are free to move to any Socialist country that will have you."

Why do we even vote, then?  I'm sure he complains if someone he doesn't like is elected president.
I don't know if he's checked, but the stockmarket dropped 778 points.  I don't really like how that is.  Do I have a right to complain about the financial state of our country?

Sure I love America... it's a fine piece of land.  I can't say I'm crazy about the government or the system or the capitalism.
I'd really love to have some socialized health-care, so I wouldn't have to worry about paying for something to get a check up, and get it looked at instead of putting it off, where it might get worse.

Trust me, I'd like to live in Canada or France or anywhere else.  Yes, taxes are higher, but I think that's worth it to get socialized health care rather than being screwed by insurance companies.

d) "I think it's good.... And I'm proud that 'God' is written on my money"

Ugh... just, ugh...

Why DOES 'he' have to be there?  Why is that so important?  I'm so tired of these people who don't understand that other people have other beliefs, and they're JUST as entitled to live as much as the next person.

e) "I dislike those people standing in the intersections trying to sell me stuff or trying to guilt me into making 'donations' to their cause. Get a Job and do your part!"

What...the...?!

I... don't even know how to respond to this one.  It's more of the weird view that poor people are just lazy or are faking it or whatever.
How about donations to medical research?  No?

What's this "get a job and do your part!"
I'm collecting money to feed hungry children, but instead I should "get a job" and give all my money for that so no one else has to?
Any idea how inefficient that is?  There's a reason people collect donations...  Everyone giving a little bit is a lot more effective than one person trying to pool together their own resources for a cause.

Though on second look, it does say "intersections".  I am more wary of those people than the ones outside of stores trying to raise money.

f) "I believe the American flag should be the only one allowed in AMERICA !"

People come from different countries.  Get over it.  This is America, and that's sort of the point.
I believe that people from other countries have a lot more reason to be proud of their heritage than I do.

I'm just glad there wasn't one saying something like "If you don't believe in God, you don't belong in America!  Get out!"

I'm so sick of these people talking about how they're the "nightmare" of some other group, and they're proud of it.  All the time in the opinion section of the newspaper, people are responding to each other, bashing each others' views.
I get so tired of the constant fighting.
Make lunch, not war!

Great post! Here are some of my answers.

I ride Harleys Davidson Motorcycles and believe in American products.
Sure, but why are you buying then all that stuff that is manufactured elsewhere. Most "American" products now have the made in China label on it. BTW nothing beats European and Japanese cars.

I think owning a gun doesn't make you a killer, it makes you a smart American.
If guns made you smart then Palin should be a genius  ;)

I think if you are too stupid to know how a ballot works, I don't want you deciding who should be running the most powerful nation in the world for the next four years.
I agree with that. I also think that if you are too stupid to think that the world is only 6000 years old; that you haven't got a clue about how the world turns; never bothered to get more knowledgeable about the economy and your only positive trait is that your are a hockey-mum or a Vietnam veteran with a heart condition then I don't want to have you as my president.
The universe never did make sense; I suspect it was built on government contract.

My wife has American relatives who are, well, a bit religious and she gets lots of crap from them (soldiers on god's mission, angels on my shoulder and crud like that) ... I know I wouldn't like it and I have ended one friendship because of it, she's way more tolerant of such stuff than me.

This is so weird... I was just all over George Carlin's website last weekend and I read almost this exact thing there... in the "NOT GEORGE CARLIN" section.

Here's the Snopes page for it.

It is funny in a way because we all know someone who fits that description in some way, shape or form.  And it's not funny for the very same reason.

Arguing about it with him won't solve anything.  I'd just ask him to stop forwarding that stuff to me.

Then again, I don't have the guts to say that to my mom.
