Could be cool... looks dark.

Hope they have a small homage to Yul in it somewhere.

It looks good and being HBO it actually ought to be good but I will reserve judgement until after I've seen it, there have been so many crappy remakes.

I want to see it, I liked the original. I remember there being a book, but I think it was written for the movie or was at least mostly based off of the script. I never read it. I think Crichton wrote both the movie and the book.

But this one looks at least as dark, but probably will throw more focus on things only hinted at or presented in short shots in the movie. I guess I'll just have to wait a month to find out.

I watched the original, kind of weird but I liked it.

I haven't read the book but based on the trailer for the series, it seems they're going to diverge quite a bit from the original, which isn't a bad thing. Plus it's got Anthony Hopkins in it so what could go wrong?

The Asmo wants Killjoys to have more episodes per season.  :( Also, He wants more Z-nation.  :( Generally, more zombies for The Asmo.  :(

...He's into light stuff currently. Easy-watching and what have you.

I really have to get round to it. Good series so far?

I absolutely love it. For the first time in a long time, I have no idea where a show is going with their story line and I love it. I've called some minor things, (ok one major one but no spoilers), but I still don't know how it will apply to the overall plot.

The only complaints I've heard are that it's "too slow", and yes, it does take more than an 8 second attention span to watch. And that it's just weird. And yes, it's sci-fi with a whole fuckton of moral ambiguity. That shit is indeed weird.

I love weird! Looks like it's just as awesome as I thought it'd be. :smilenod:

I know it won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I highly recommend at least 2 episodes. Honestly I was hooked on the opening credits alone. Just so beautifully done.

And Anthony Hopkins is amazing as always.

If anyone else is watching, I'd totally start a spoilers thread to discuss.

I'm liking it so far. Apart from the story, what I like about it, is that it doesn't do a lot of the editing things that normally bother me. I think it's just going along at a nice and steady pace.

Still catching up, but it's a good show.

Like the direction they're headed... hope they can find a way to keep it interesting.

Finale is on the way!

I believe there's a marathon starting at noon tomorrow leading up to the finale. I'll be rewatching a bit! I feel like there's a lot of rewatch value, seeing things you now know are hints at upcoming twists.

THESE VIOLENT DELIGHTS HAVE VIOLENT ENDS

...I am so in love with this show it's not even funny. I need to rewatch this season ASAP. Because OMG, that finale. O.M.G.

I just barely watched the finale, that was a good ending I think. I know a lot of people in my circles were complaining about the slow pacing for the first few episodes, but I found it refreshing to watch a show with a different pace than what seems to be the current standard.

It's not really even slow, as you're getting information the entire time.  It's just not all gunslinging action. Which is good. As much as it can be done well, action is a mocked genre for a reason. A "slow" show can have loads of depth if done correctly. Look at Breaking Bad's now iconic fly episode.

That's my beef with shows like TWD. They're slow AND nothing happens. Very basic info that should take minutes to impart takes an entire episode, at the cost of any character development at all.

There is some good writing advice, at least some writing advice that I agree with, and it goes something like this: does the scene add/change anything to a character, a situation, a location, or the plot? If not, then you probably want to drop it. And I feel that too many times (like in TWD), with many shows or movies, it feels as if they add too many scenes for atmosphere, aesthetics, or filler, which to me, makes the shows feel empty no matter how long they are. It makes a one hour show drag on but gives the feeling that almost nothing happened.

I understand that real life can become tedious, but I think that the feeling of tedium can be presented in many different ways, without making the viewer experience tedium. While I can understand an artist wanting a spectator to experience tedium to put them into the "right place" to experience the art, tedium is not a feeling I want to experience when I'm looking to be entertained.

I have a lot to say about that, but I'll hold my tongue (fingers), here.

Any way, tangents aside, I have enjoyed all the episodes of Westworld and think they are all well done. And I also want to watch the season again.

I've only just now gotten round to watching this (have watched one episode so far). Looks like an interesting series.
