My best guess?  His secret is confidence.  I suspect babies sense it and feel safe because of it.  Just a guess.

The only good thing about Newt is that he provides tons of material for Wait Wait Don't Tell Me. They predicted that if he had won the nomination he would have selected himself as his running mate.

I speak in the past tense because we all know he won't go much further.
